Foundation for the Carolinas: Foundation for a Healthy Carolina Grant (Application Deadline: March 21, 2025) This grant supports organizations in the greater Charlotte region working to improve health, human services, and educational outcomes. Healthcare grants focus on advancing equity and access for vulnerable populations, including the elderly, individuals in poverty, and undocumented workers, by addressing physical and mental health needs. Education grants support workforce development, recruitment, placement, and retention in the healthcare field, along with community health education and initiatives addressing healthcare-related educational barriers. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofits, congregations, and governmental or educational institutions serving residents in select counties across North and South Carolina.


Outer Banks Community Foundation: Focus Grants (Application Deadline: April 25, 2025) This grant offers up to $50,000 for innovative, large-scale projects aimed at addressing key challenges in the Outer Banks. Funding priorities include expanding healthcare access, providing affordable housing solutions, and supporting child care initiatives. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofits and government agencies serving Carteret, Currituck, Dare, and Hyde counties in North Carolina.


Harold McAlister Charitable Foundation Grant (Letter of Intent Deadline: Rolling-basis) The Harold McAlister Charitable Foundation supports public charities working in healthcare, education, social services, animal welfare, arts and culture, and environmental protection. The foundation prioritizes organizations and proposals that align with its mission of improving lives through effective and impactful initiatives. Funding decisions consider factors such as alignment with priorities, measurable impact, and the organization’s history of success and growth.


LabCorp Charitable Foundation Grants (Application Deadline: Rolling-basis) The Labcorp Charitable Foundation aims to ensure equitable care, education, and community support. Established in 2020, the foundation provides grants to initiatives such as food pantries, meal programs, healthcare services for underserved populations, STEM education programs, and efforts promoting healthy lifestyles through medical research and screenings. Eligible applicants must be U.S.-based organizations with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status or equivalent charitable recognition. Requests must align with one of three focus areas: health and welfare, education, or community. Grant reviews occur in March and September.


CareSource Foundation: Community Grant (Application Deadline: Rolling-basis) The CareSource Foundation offers Community Grants to nonprofits addressing health equity, poverty, and systemic issues affecting underserved populations. These one-year grants prioritize innovative, community-driven solutions that target root causes of disparities and promote sustainable health improvements. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) tax-exempt and primarily serve communities in states where CareSource operates. Funding is typically provided once per organization within a 12-month period, though multiple applications are allowed.


Gilead North America Grants (Application Deadline: Rolling-basis) This funding opportunity supports projects across North America that aim to improve access to healthcare, eliminate barriers, and advance education for patients and healthcare professionals. Gilead focuses on therapeutic areas such as HIV, liver diseases, oncology, and inflammatory and respiratory diseases. Partnerships with patient advocates, nonprofits, and healthcare professionals are central to enhancing care and community engagement. Only tax-exempt nonprofits are eligible to apply. Applications must include a U.S. federal tax ID number and proof of tax-exempt status, such as a 501(c)(3) IRS letter.


Moderna Charitable Foundation Grants (Application Deadline: Rolling-basis) This funding opportunity supports organizations that promote public health, improve access to quality healthcare, advance scientific education and innovation, and advocate for diversity and inclusion, especially in underserved populations. Established in 2022, the Moderna Charitable Foundation aims to benefit local and global communities through these grant-making priorities. Grants are available to 501(c)(3) organizations within the United States and similarly, organized nonprofit organizations outside the U.S.


J.W. Couch Foundation: Early Childhood Education Grant (Application Deadline: March 28, 2025) This grant supports early childhood education programs that provide a creative and balanced approach to learning. Funding is available for schools incorporating life skills, peer collaboration, Montessori and project-based teachings, diversity, outdoor learning, and reduced screen time. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations and for-profit entities aligned with the foundation’s focus areas of preservation, education, or wellness.


Charles and Joan Hermanowski: Family Foundation Grant (Letter of Intent Deadline: March 31, 2025) The Charles and Joan Hermanowski Family Foundation is dedicated to improving and transforming the lives of children and young adults in the United States by providing them with the tools to succeed and reach their full potential. The foundation supports charitable organizations focused on arts, education, health, and welfare services for individuals up to age 21. Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations operating in rural, urban, or suburban communities within the U.S. and must have been in existence for at least one year.


New Hanover County Community Foundation Grant (Application Deadline: April 22, 2025) The New Hanover County Community Foundation provides grants through its community grantmaking fund and several designated endowments, including the Suzanne and George Taylor Endowment (supporting children’s welfare), the Food Bank of Coastal Carolina Fund (food-related services), the 1898 Memorial Fund (racial equity projects in Wilmington), and the Lucille Murchison Marvin Fund (charitable purposes). Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, organizations with fiscal sponsors, local governments, public schools, fire and rescue departments, and faith-based organizations providing community outreach programs. Only organizations serving New Hanover, Pender, Brunswick, and Columbus counties are eligible.
